Lightwire is a coronray guidewire that provides reconstructed images of the vessel’s internal structure during cardiac catheterization intervention (such as percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, PTCA), atherectomy or stent placement.
LightWire also provides diagnostic information, including location and size of atherosclerotic plaque. It can be used to facilitate deployment of stents and other therapeutic devices, and to assess treatment results.

The Arteroscan console provides real time arterial wall reconstruction information to the interventional cardiologist. This allows easy and straightforward measurement of both lumen and vessel (External Elastic Membrane) dimensions

The Ultrasound measurement technique is be used to correctly size and position balloons and stents. The arteroscan displays can be used to ascertain optimal stent apposition and deployment and verification and documentation of final procedure results.

Bioscan performed a successful preclinical study in swine. The study was performed by Prof. Ran Kornowski, Director of the Interventional Cardiology Department at the Rabin Medical Center, Israel. The goals of the pre-clinical trial were to test the following:

• Ability to successfully navigate in coronary & peripheral vessels

• Ability to recover the guidewire without mechanical distortion

• Compatibility with all cathlab devices: catheters, balloons, stents

• Accurate vessel measurements in comparison with IVUS measurements
  at the same locations

• Friendly on line graphical reconstruction of the vessels

LightWire fulfilled all the performance goals successfully.

"LightWire maneuverability was intuitive and user-friendly while on line vessel reconstruction prior, during and following balloon inflation and stenting was feasible and satisfactory. Healthy artery and newly stented vessels were investigated in the three main coronary arteries and their minor branches without any difficulty and in the femoral vessel " stated Prof. R.
